While most students will be able to demonstrate proficiency with essential academic standards, behavioral expectations and social-emotional competencies as a result of the universal supports provided, some students will require more targeted support in the form of interventions. An intervention is anything a school does, above and beyond what all students receive, in order to help specific students achieve, behave and/or feel a sense of belonging at school. Interventions are employed to target a particular lagging skill. Thus, it is critical that targeted support is delivered in a timely and focused manner. To remain responsive to the individual needs of students, educators must act with great precision to ensure that those who require additional time and instruction receive said support in a way that accelerates their learning, rather than remediates it. The resources below will guide educators in achieving this end.
